During this relaxed and creative workshop, you'll build, paint, and personalize your very own marionette while discovering one of the Czech Republic's most celebrated traditional crafts. Whether you're travelling alone, with friends, as a couple, or with family, this is an experience unlike any other.

Build Your Own Character

The workshop begins with our very own Animáček marionette kit, designed and developed right here in our atelier. It contains everything needed to create a fully functional walking marionette, including pre-cut wooden parts, a traditional controller, strings, screws, and all the necessary components.

Our instructor will guide you through assembling the body step by step, making the process easy even if you've never held a screwdriver or made anything by hand before.

Let Your Imagination Take Over

Paint your puppet however you like, then browse through our collection of fabrics, faux fur, leather, ribbons, feathers, buttons, and other materials to create clothing, hairstyles, ears, tails, hats, wings—or anything else you can imagine.

Create a fairy, a pirate, a dragon, your favourite movie character, an animal, a monster, or even a miniature version of yourself or someone you love. There are no templates and no rules—only your imagination.

Our artists are always nearby to help with painting techniques, costume ideas, construction, or anything else you need along the way.

Unlike a standard craft workshop, you'll be creating your puppet inside the very atelier where our professional marionettes are designed and built. Throughout the workshop you'll be surrounded by the tools, materials, and works in progress of our artists, giving you a genuine glimpse into the centuries-old tradition of Czech marionette making.

Perfect for Beginners

No artistic experience is necessary.

The workshop is suitable for individuals, couples, families, and small groups of up to ten participants. Depending on the complexity of your design, it usually lasts between two and three hours, giving you plenty of time to create a marionette that's entirely your own. At the end, you'll leave not only with a handmade puppet, but with the memory of having created it yourself.
